During the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H, Super Indo supermarkets are running the Senyuman Ramadan program operated by Foodbank of Indonesia (FOI) through Mustikarasa's soup kitchen and mobile kitchen. The Senyuman Ramadan program, which stands for "All Can Donate Food in Ramadan", targets the distribution of 3000 food packages in 30 cities / regencies in Java and Sumatra for underprivileged families, especially seniors and children.

Supported by 7 selected supply partners, the Senyuman Ramadan program is expected to ease the burden of the underprivileged during the festive period, a time when all food prices increase sharply. The supply partners joining this social action are Belfoods, CEDEA, Sunpride, Daitsabu, AICE Ice Cream, 365 Canned Tuna and 365 Cooking Oil.

"Since 2018, Super Indo has collaborated with FOI to prevent food waste and utilize excess food to help thousands of people in need. With this Ramadan Smile program, we hope to share happiness with the underprivileged during the holy month. We really appreciate the active participation of our supply partners in this program, so that the healthy food packages prepared become more attractive," said Yuvlinda Susanta, General Manager Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Super Indo.

Furthermore, Hendro Utomo, CEO of Foodbank of Indonesia Networking said "We are grateful to Super Indo for the cooperation that has been established so far. During this program period, Mustikarasa's Public Kitchen and Mobile Kitchen were fully operational to prepare and distribute food to people in need. In addition, the Senyuman Ramadan program was able to mobilize mothers and volunteers to gather and cook for vulnerable communities including children, women and the elderly."

Nita Yulianis, S.P., M.Si, Director of Food and Nutrition Vigilance at the National Food Agency said, "We appreciate the Senyuman Ramadan program that has been present in 30 points in Java and Sumatra. This program is certainly a form of collaboration not only from the central government that takes part, but also the penta-helix sector including academics, media, the private sector in the business sector, local governments, and also the community in general. God willing, this program has also been collaborated with the National Food Agency and Regional Food Offices in the Sumatra region. Agency and the Regional Food Offices in Sumatra and Java. Hopefully this good initiative that embraces volunteers from Foodbank of Indonesia (FOI) and partners involved in ensuring food access for all will not stop here."

The National Food Agency has three steps in maintaining food security, namely better nutrition, better behavior, and better collaboration, which will be a strategy in dealing with the issue of food loss and waste. This is because Indonesia produces up to 21 million tons of food waste per year according to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report.

The Senyuman Ramadan program is a social action where Super Indo and supplier partners set aside a portion of profits from sales during the program. The more products sold or purchased by customers at Super Indo, the more the maximum value of donations given to beneficiaries. This program aims to open access to healthy food for people in need during the festive period, namely in the months of Ramadan and Shawwal through FOI Food Kitchens located in 30 areas of Java and South Sumatra.
located in 30 areas of Java and South Sumatra during March 23 - April 6, 2024.

"Everyone plays a role in opening access to healthy food for the community. As Indonesians who are accustomed to the tradition of mutual cooperation, let us work together. We believe care and real action can end hardship. We hope more companies will follow Super Indo's lead and get involved in this gotong-royong action." Yuvlinda concluded.
