As part of our responsibility and implementation of Sustainable Retail, we have the ambition to always inspire customers to make healthier choices, provide products from responsible sources, reduce waste generation, and reduce carbon emissions.

Inspire Customers to Make Healthier Choices

What we consume can help prevent disease, and even has an effect on good mental and physical health.

That is why Super Indo, as an Indonesian family supermarket, is committed to making a difference and educating our customers, the public and our employees about what they eat, the importance of nutrition, and providing healthier food product choices in stores.

In addition to encouraging healthier consumption patterns by providing quality and affordable fresh products, We want to help customers live healthier lives and contribute to education on consumption of a more balanced sugar intake through information on indicators of sugar content in products. Further information regarding indicators of sugar content in beverages can be seen here.

Providing Products from Responsible Sources

How to ensure food security and good levels of nutrition, as well as keep our natural resources sustainable? This is a challenge that must be overcome at all stages of the supply chain. As a place to shop and a better neighbor, Super Indo wants to provide solutions and choices to advance food security and sustainable sourcing.

Super Indo is responsible for maintaining the highest level of safety for the products it sells, while increasing its environmental and social footprint, with a particular focus on Super Indo's own brand products (private label). As well as working safely under good working conditions, and being produced in clean and efficient facilities, it is also important to ensure that commodities are sustainably sourced, and clearly and accurately labeled.

Product Integrity

Super Indo is committed to increasing compliance with the sustainability standards for products sold under its own brand (private label), as well as maintaining the best-in-class food safety standards. All self-brand food products are handled properly and comply with government regulations or are conformed to acceptable quality assurance standards. Super Indo's supply partners are also encouraged to be able to improve food safety standards and organizational management through BRCGS certification.

For more information about BRCGS certificates, please read here.

Product Transparency

Super Indo is committed to helping customers understand the impact of Indonesian customers' shopping decisions in making better choices according to their needs, affordability and tastes. Through front of pack labeling information on its own brand products, Super Indo encourages transparency about nutritional value to become more accessible.

Some of Super Indo's leading commodity products, such as tea, coffee, cocoa, palm oil, soybeans, timber, fishery and chicken eggs, come from responsible sources and are gradually certified to acceptable standards.

Here are some of initiatives by Super Indo:

Reducing the Impact of Waste Generation

In Super Indo's business operations, we always try to minimize the impact of generated waste, whether in the form offood waste norsingle use plastic waste, where this is one form of our real contribution to reducing waste to landfills.

Food Waste

To reduce food waste at each outlet, we ensure that each outlet has an appropriate ordering, handling, storage and marketing system, thereby reducing the impact of products being damaged or unsellable. That way, products that have the potential to become waste will be reduced.

We manage various types of food product waste generated in operational activities, namely fresh produce, used cooking oil, and food and beverage products that are still good but not fit for sale.

In handling it, we make two priority scales, namely processing into valuable products and utilization for social activities. In carrying out this program, of course we do not work alone, but collaborate with our trusted partners. These efforts are made so that the waste can be processed into valuable products or used for social activities.

Plastic Waste

In an effort to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags while providing a better shopping experience, we provide several choices of reusable shopping bags that can be tailored to customer needs. With consistent education and promotion, more and more of our customers are switching to reusable shopping bags.

We continue to make innovations, such as the plastic bags that are commonly used in the fresh produce area. At this time, we are providing another option for customers, namely Fresh Bags 365 which can be used to shop for vegetables and fruit.
